Injury on duty research

At the end of 2015, we funded a piece of research to look at the gaps that exist in support when police officers and staff are injured on duty.

The purpose of doing this was to influence our grants programme and the wider support we provide, so we can be sure we are doing what’s best for those who protect us. We hope it’s value will extend beyond this and it will help to inform activity to improve health and wellbeing across the police service.

The work was carried out by the Department of Sociology at the University of Surrey and we’re pleased to share the results with you. You can read and download:

More than 10,000 of you completed our survey and some of you went on to give in-depth interviews to members of the research team. Thank you to everyone who took part and gave very candid feedback about the support services currently available to officers, former officers and staff.
