Legacy gifts have already enabled us to make a huge difference to the families we support and a gift in your will would enable us to help more families long into the future.
After you have made arrangements to look after your own family and friends, you can help us to continue to provide the financial support that makes life a little easier for those who are left behind when a police officer has been killed or injured on duty.
There are different types of legacies and your solicitor will be able to help and advise you on which one would be best for you. A gift of a percentage of your estate (residuary) will make the biggest difference to the support we can provide because it will keep its value better than a gift of a fixed sum of money (pecuniary). It’s also an easy way to support the causes that are important to you after loved ones have been looked after.
Legacies are generally exempt from inheritance tax, so a gift in your Will to the Police Dependants’ Trust could be tax free for us and could reduce the amount of inheritance tax your loved ones are liable to pay. If you would like more information, please visit the HMRC website.
