Westminster attack – Latest information

Mar 28, 2017Police Dependants' Trustnews and events

As you have no doubt seen and read about in the press, a police officer was killed and three police officers seriously injured on Wednesday March 22nd at Westminster.

Details are still being released about the officers who were injured – at 27th March, one officer has been discharged while the other two remain in critical condition.

This incident was declared a terrorist related incident, and so the Police Dependants’ Trust has activated the National Welfare Contingency Fund and is in close contact with Counter-Terrorism Command at New Scotland Yard, and with colleagues at City of London Police, to ensure support is made available to all officers affected.

The charity is also making available financial assistance and support to the officers injured or killed on duty. We are in close contact with the Metropolitan Police and the Police Federation to ensure that their needs are, and continue to be met.

We have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support from the public across the country, and the world, who have made donations to support this work. Anyone who wishes to make a donation towards the Police Dependants’ Trust can do so by clicking here to donate online, or by contacting us – details can be found here.

The Metropolitan Police Federation have created an online appeal for the widow of PC Keith Palmer, which can be found here.
